Gas Station or Fire Station? - SERMON

The people of Good Shepherd and I are getting ready to start our second year together!  We've gotten to know and love each other, and now it's time to make some choices so I know what future this congregation wants me to help them realize.  The choice I put before them today was, do we want to become a Gas Station or Fire Station?

Coaching in the Kingdom - SERMON

Took a risk with my congregation today.  No one got up and walked out, anyway.  I built my sermon around something Coach Tom Landry said, including the advice that a good coach "tells you things you don't want to hear."  As a pastor, I'm coaching the folks here about how to follow Jesus and proclaim the Reign of God with their lives.  I'm Coaching in the Kingdom.

Peter Doubting Peter - SERMON

Doubt . . . is the opposite of doubt really certainty? When it comes to faith, certainty can just be arrogance wrapped in pious robes.  Maybe doubt is more like a failure of nerve, a fear of acting boldly. The lesson this week was about Peter sinking in the waves, and I explore whether the story is about Peter doubting Jesus, or Peter Doubting Peter.
