Our intention to Love Life, Live Lent isn't all kittens, rainbows and butterflies. This Lent, I took a page from Mother Church in England and her "Love Life, Live Lent" motif. I'm encouraging everyone to approach Lent differently. Instead of 40 days of feeling miserable about what terrible sinners we are, how about 40 days of feasting on praise, compassion, joy, forgiveness, generosity, humility, service, respect, peace, faith, hope and love? I think the story of the Transfiguration is, frankly, embarrassing for a lot of intellectual "Jeffersonian" Christians. For me, the story helps me make sense of one of the most important spiritual experiences in my life, when I, too, heard A Voice from Heaven.
