Wealth of Mind and Heart and Hand - SERMON

Christian stewardship is not about money, but it IS about wealth.  God gives us Wealth of Mind and Heart and Hand, and God expects us to use this wealth with authority.

God the Giver of All Good - SERMON

Do we give God our first fruits or the leftovers? That depends on what we actually want from life, from church, from ourselves.  Whatever we decide, everything we have comes from  God the Giver of All Good.

The First Day of a New Life - SERMON

You probably know someone who had a wedding, but never actually got married - they lived the same way before and after the ritual.  The same thing happens a lot with baptisms; people come to church to "have the baby done," but don't see as really changing anything.  Being baptized is a radical event; it shouldn't be just a ceremony, but The First Day of a New Life.

Ready for Epiphany? - SERMON

We finished our Christmas Pageant yesterday; the magi finally made it up the church aisle. We'll observe the Baptism of Jesus next week.  This week, we celebrated the game-changing presence of God exploding into our comfortable, safe, secure world.  I asked everyone: are you Ready for Epiphany?

What's in a Name? - SERMON

As I was contemplating my sermon for the Feast of the Holy Name, my local paper had a story about names and how they affect people's very lives. How topical!  Jesus' name was about who he was.  Mine still shapes my identity. The same can be true of a parish. Today I ask, individually and as a congregation, What's in a Name?
